The Department for Families and Communities (DFC) is now the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI). Families SA, including the child protection and family support functions, is now part of the new Department for Education and Child Development. Youth Justice remains with DCSI and the Department now includes  Multicultural SA, Northern Connections, Office for the Southern Suburbs, Office for Volunteers, Office for Women, Office for Youth and Social Inclusion. The department is currently reviewing its online information and updates are in progress. Departmental information can still be found using the search function on this site. For more information about South Australian government services please visit www.sa.gov.au.

Other ways of searching

  • Electoral rolls
    Thess are often the quickest and easiest way to find the person you are looking for. Old electoral rolls are also available at the Australian Electoral Commission and the State Library of South Australia.
  • Telephone books
    New and old telephone books for South Australia and other States and Territories. These can be accessed at the State Library. Access to worldwide telephone books and other lists is available through the Internet.
  • Sands and McDougall books
    These are available at the State Library and contain lists up to 1973 of heads of South Australian households in alphabetical order. The entries detail streets, suburbs, other residents and their occupations.
  • Baptismal and marriage registers at various churches.
  • Cemetery records.
  • Genealogical and family tree books are available at various societies.
  • Post office directories.
  • Newspapers - see the State Library.
  • Government archives and other non-government agencies archives.
