Northern Connections assists in achieving the State government’s commitments to improve economic, social and environmental outcomes in northern Adelaide.
Much of our work is about finding better solutions to the challenges and priorities of northern Adelaide’s communities.
We play an important role in:
- Getting the right people around the right table, at the right time, to connect up programs and co-ordinate services that should logically work together to get better results.
Examples of this include the Northern Adelaide Regional Collaboration, the Northern Adelaide Early Childhood Development Steering Committee and auspicing of the northern Adelaide trial site for the Common Approach to Assessment, Referral and Support (CARRS)
- Helping to align the activities of local, state and Australian governments at the regional level and to fill gaps.
Examples of this include supporting the development of Invest Northern Adelaide, the Closing the Gap initiative (to improve life outcomes for Aboriginal residents) and the Playford trial site of the Australian Government’s Building Australia’s Future Workforce package.
- Ensuring that northern Adelaide is positioned to take advantage of every opportunity and that local people benefit from these opportunities
- Informing and advocating to government and agencies the needs of northern Adelaide
Our work relies on strong regional networks, partnerships and collaboration with the community at large, local, state and Australian government agencies, not-for-profit organisations and the local business community.
The region covered by Northern Connections includes the local government areas of Tea Tree Gully, Salisbury, Playford, Gawler, Light and a portion of Port-Adelaide Enfield.
