When a crisis or emergency happens it can be very difficult to manage on your own, but there is a wide range of services and information to help you cope.

 

Advice and assistance to help recovery following a disaster such as a flood, drought, storm or bushfires.

Where to get specialised counselling, care and services for anyone experiencing a personal or family crisis.

Find out about various services to help if you are experiencing financial difficulties.

This advice will help you plan, and cope during emergencies such as Extreme Heat, Bushfire Survival, Home Fire Safety, Influenza, Flood and Earthquake.

 

After hours emergencies

If you need urgent help outside office hours, call the Crisis Care telephone service on 131 611. It operates from 4.00 pm to 9.00 am on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays.

Crisis Care assists people in crises as a result of:

  • Child abuse or neglect
  • Children needing foster care or other alternative care
  • Domestic violence
  • High risk adolescence behaviour or need
  • Parent-child disputes
  • Homelessness
  • Urgent financial need
  • Suicidal behaviour
  • Personal trauma
  • Natural disasters like floods

If a crisis happens on a weekday between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm, contact your nearest Families SA district centre.
