Multicultural awards open
If you know someone who makes an outstanding contribution to cultural diversity, why not nominate them for the 2017 Governor’s Multicultural Awards?
Open to individuals, businesses and community groups, the awards recognise contribution and achievement in 18 categories by those who promote multiculturalism and increase understanding of the benefits of cultural diversity.
South Australians come from about 200 countries, speak more than 200 languages (including Aboriginal languages) and represent about 100 religions.
Migrants from non-English-speaking backgrounds make up nearly 13 per cent of South Australia's population. When the children of migrants are added, this rises to nearly 25 per cent.
There were 34 finalists and 17 winners in last year’s awards. Categories include aged care, the community sector, volunteers, the public and private sectors, youth, media and economic development.

Nominations close at 5 pm on Friday 6 October 2017. The awards will be announced at Government House in March 2018.
