Aboriginal traineeships in DCSI
2014 Program – *update*
A new Government initiative, Jobs4YouthSA, is being launched by the Office for Public Sector Renewal with the aim of increasing youth employment across the public sector. This will be achieved through the provision of traineeships, which will be administrative and run for 12 months, with the intention to place individuals into ongoing roles within the public sector subject to satisfactory performance and program completion.
Maxima, the same Group Training Organisation that assisted DCSI to deliver its first Aboriginal Traineeship in 2013, will help implement the program by sourcing a pool of suitable candidates. If you are interested in applying for Jobs4Youth, please contact Maxima directly on +61 8 8340 7766.
What is the DCSI Aboriginal Traineeship?
The DCSI Aboriginal Traineeship specifically offers work and training opportunities to Aboriginal Australians. It supports our Aboriginal Employment strategies and is co-facilitated with Maxima, a Group Training Organisation specialising in improving job prospects for Aboriginal Australians.
This traineeship also combines on-the-job training with the Certificate III in Government over a 12 month period, but with the added benefit of ongoing advice and support from Maxima throughout the traineeship.
The salary you will receive is dependent upon the highest year of schooling you have completed and the number of years you have been out of school.
Am I eligible to apply?
Trainees must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and between the ages of 17 – 30 years to be able to apply for the program.
You must also:
- be a South Australian resident
- not have previously undertaken a State Government traineeship
- not have accepted a Targeted Voluntary Separation Package from the State Government within the last three years
- not be a permanent State Government employee.
